Picture a 100 year old building with tons of little odd shaped rooms everywhere. One of those odd shaped rooms happened to be a 400 sq foot storage closet right next to my classroom. I had looked at this room numerous times and visioned a space for students. Last school year, I shared my vision with my principal. He thought it was a great idea and gave me the go ahead to try and make it happen.
During this past summer, I along with the help of some amazing parents, began to convert this space into our school’s new Makerspace. First step CLEANING! We spent about three days cleaning out this room.

Today is officially my first EVER blog post!
I know you all are saying get with the times. Sadly, I have been scared to start a blog due to the fact that I am not a very good writer. I have control issues and try not to put things out into the world until they are as close to perfect as possible. Having someone edit my blog seems crazy and extra time consuming. So I am just going to go for it! Please bare with my not so great sentence structure and/or grammar. I will try to write as succinctly as possible with lots of bullet points. My reason for starting this blog is to document my process of creating a Makerspace within my school. I really have no idea what I am getting myself into with regard to blogging and/or creating this Makerspace, but I thought it's important to share my adventure and what I learn along the way.
