Pair Programming - Best Practice
Update From Code.org Blog about Pair Programming
Background if you haven't seen this feature yet: Code.org has heard from a lot of people that pair programming can be tricky. While collaboration can be great for learning, if the students work together, than only one student has their progress tracked with the green dots in Code Studio. This new feature means that both students will get credit for finishing the puzzles. (The code will only be saved with the logged in user's account, but both will get their puzzle completion recorded.)
To try it out: Log in as a student in one of your sections
- If you choose picture or word password, you'll have the option to choose a partner when you log in.
- If you are using email log in, than click the sign in button to add a partner.
Finish a few puzzles and you'll see both accounts will get credit for finishing them. You can also log in as a teacher and you'll see on the teacher dashboard that both students finished. You'll also see that they pair programmed when viewing it from the teacher perspective.
